We specialise in criminal defence and family law. Our team of long-serving staff have a wealth of experience in their particular fields of expertise. Much of our work comes from the recommendation of former clients so you can be confident that we're tried, tested and professional in all that we do.
The firm was founded in the 1960s by Robert Smith Dawson whose objective was to provide an accessible service to the local community. Times may have changed, but we remain committed to this primary purpose. We are not a large, impersonal firm with roots outside the Midlands. We are friendly, local, and here to help.
Our criminal team can provide you with:
~ advice and assistance at the police station;
~ representation in the Magistrates' and Youth Courts;
~ representation in the Crown Court, either by our in-house Higher Courts Advocate or by instructing the barrister best suited to your case and particular needs.
We have 4 criminal solicitors, all of whom are well known and respected throughout the Midlands. We attend Magistrates' and Youth Courts throughout the Midlands and Black Country, including Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley and Cannock. We are willing to attend courts nationwide, if necessary.
Most of our criminal work is funded by the Legal Aid Agency which means that our expertise is usually free of charge to you. Where Legal Aid isn't available, we welcome privately paying clients and offer competitive rates for our services on a fixed fee basis where possible.
Our experienced team of accredited police station representatives can be contacted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year on our emergency number and provide assistance free of charge, irrespective of your means, funded by the Legal Aid Agency.
Our family team can assist you with:
~ divorce proceedings;
~ occupation orders;
~ non-molestation orders;
~ child arrangement orders;
~ care proceedings;
~ ancillary relief.
Our in-house team of experienced advocates can represent you before the family proceedings court or, if necessary, arrange for you to be represented by a specialist family law barrister best suited to the nature of your case.
We have 2 solicitors in our family department, all of whom are dedicated and driven towards achieving the best possible result for you.
Much of our family department's work is funded by the Legal Aid Agency which means that in certain circumstances their advice and expertise is free of charge to you. We offer a free 15-minute initial appointment to all clients to assess your eligibility for Legal Aid or provide you with an estimate of our costs. We welcome privately paying clients and, where Legal Aid isn't available, offer competitive rates for our services. Fixed fee divorces are also available.
